Last year we had three turtles that were found and taken to the Sea Turtle Hospital. They are Eight, Bradley and Lagoon. Recently Nancy, the Wrightsville Beach Sea Turtle Project (WBSTP) Coordinator joined Jean Beasley and others to see if Bradley and Lagoon have recovered and are ready to be released. Below is what Nancy shared from the experience :

Many of you may have seen some photos and stories about our very own Bradley the Braveheart in the local news this week. Bradley, and two other turtles from the Sea Turtle Hospital (STH), were transported to the aquarium at Fort Fisher this past Wednesday for a 'swim test'. You should have seen them go. Each and everyone passed the test with flying colors! So what does that mean for Bradley? Believe it or not, that horribly injured turtle is now a beautiful, healthy loggerhead that is ready and rarin' to go, and he is a likely candidate for the next release at Topsail. He truly is one amazing creature! The injured left flipper has healed remarkably well on it's own, and Bradley enjoys full and complete use of it. Therefore, Jean and the vets have decided that no further treatment of that injury is warranted or advisable. If it ain't broke---don't fix it!!

All the volunteers are truly grateful to Jean and everyone at the Topsail Island Sea Turtle Hospital for aiding and rehabilitating our hurt and injured turtles. They make our world a much better place. No wonder Jean was honored as the Animal Planet Hero of Year. She is our hero every year! We continue to support the Sea Turtle Hospital by providing contributions to build a new hospital that can house more turtles.
